On the morning of April 23, 2018, the Republican Party of Armenia faction was in the National Assembly awaiting the Prosecutor General’s report on this matter, but it never appeared in the National Assembly. Eduard Sharmazanov, a member of the Supreme Body of the Republican Party of Armenia, wrote about this on his Facebook page.
“Since I have been receiving numerous calls regarding the points made by the former high-ranking official [the Prosecutor General], let me clarify.
Following Nikol’s arrest on April 22, 2018, it was announced that Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Artur Davtyan would arrive in the National Assembly on April 23 to discuss the issue of stripping Nikol and several other opposition MPs of their immunity.
NA Speaker Ara Babloyan was on duty on April 22 and returned to the Republic of Armenia on the night of April 22-23.
A discussion took place within the RPA faction, and we all awaited the Prosecutor General’s visit and the discussion of this issue in the National Assembly on the morning of April 23.
The RPA faction had a clear position on satisfying the Prosecutor General’s petition.
I heard no other opinion at that time, and even if it had been heard, it would have been impossible not to know it.
Even three or four RPA deputies from the RPA faction arrived urgently from Europe to Yerevan on the morning of April 23 to participate in this important vote.
The RPA faction did not call on anyone to withdraw the Prosecutor General’s petition.
On the morning of April 23, the entire RPA faction was in the National Assembly, awaiting the Prosecutor General’s speech.
The Prosecutor himself did not appear in the National Assembly at the appointed time, so the discussion of this issue did not take place.
“This is disgraceful, stop spreading lies.
Don’t you know any other names besides the Republican Party?” he wrote.
