Once territorial claims against Azerbaijan are removed from the Armenian Constitution, an official peace agreement will be signed. Aliyev

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev noted that the negotiations with Armenia lasted for several years and ended in Washington with the active support of President Trump and his team. He said this in an interview with Al Arabiya TV channel.

“I believe that this is truly the end of the conflict, the end of the war. The official peace agreement was not signed for one specific reason. The Armenian Constitution still contains a provision that calls into question the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan,” he said.

“As far as we understand, they will make an amendment. And as soon as this amendment to the Constitution is made, as soon as territorial claims against Azerbaijan are removed, an official peace agreement will be signed. However, the very fact of the initialing of this document by Azerbaijan and Armenia in the White House, in the presence of President Trump, already means the end of the war, which has been going on intermittently for more than thirty years. “This opens up completely new opportunities for the South Caucasus region and the entire region of Central Asia and the Middle East,” Aliyev emphasized.
