Pakistani-Afghan talks in Istanbul have failed: Afghan Foreign Ministry

The talks with Pakistan in Istanbul failed due to unrealistic demands from the Pakistani side, said Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammad Naeem. This was reported by the Bakhtar news agency, citing Kommersant.

He stated that the progress of the talks, in which Afghanistan participated with good intentions, was hampered by the lack of cooperation from the Pakistani delegation.

On November 10, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced a Turkish peace initiative to prevent conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Erdogan intends to send the heads of the Foreign Ministry, Defense Ministry, and intelligence agencies to Islamabad to discuss ways to normalize relations between the two countries. Erdogan also stated that he has not lost hope for a positive outcome to the peace talks that began in Qatar and are continuing in Istanbul under Turkish mediation.

Relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan worsened after the Pakistani Air Force carried out airstrikes on a Kabul district and a market in Paktika Province, Afghanistan, on the night of October 9-10. The attack killed three Pakistani Taliban leaders hiding in Afghanistan.
