“Yesterday we conducted a test of another promising system – the Poseidon remote-controlled underwater vehicle. It is also equipped with a nuclear power plant. For the first time, we managed not only to launch it from a carrier submarine with a starter engine, but also to start the device’s nuclear power plant,” Putin said during a visit to the Mandrika Central Military Clinical Hospital.
He called the tests a “huge success” and noted that Poseidon is unsurpassed in the world in a number of its characteristics.
“Poseidon significantly exceeds the Sarmat in power. In addition, the speed and depth of this remote-controlled vehicle are unsurpassed in the world, and it is unlikely that anything like it will appear in the near future. There is no method to catch it,” Putin added.
According to the Russian President, Poseidon also has very small dimensions.
“It is a hundred times smaller than a submarine’s nuclear reactor. However, the power of Poseidon significantly exceeds the power of even our most modern intercontinental missile, the Sarmat. There is nothing like it in the world,” Putin emphasized.
