The dollar is used as a weapon these days, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to him, Russia is not abandoning the use of the dollar, but is looking for alternatives to it, Kommersant reports.
He raised this issue at a meeting of the BRICS summit in Kazan. According to Putin, using the dollar as a weapon is “a big mistake by those who do it.” He did not specify which countries he was talking about.
“The dollar is still the most important instrument of global finance… We are not abandoning the dollar, we are not fighting it. But if we are not allowed to work, what should we do? We are forced to look for other alternatives – and that is what is happening,” the Russian president said.
