Organizing a meeting between Russian and Ukrainian Presidents Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy has so far failed, as expert-level talks have reached an impasse. This was stated by Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov, according to Kommersant.
“High-level contacts cannot be an end in themselves, as they will not help resolve such a complex and difficult issue. Unfortunately, we currently lack the capacity to prepare such a meeting with the Ukrainian side, as the Kyiv regime is in no hurry to continue the Istanbul negotiation process, is slow to respond to the draft documents presented, and is slow to respond to the proposal to create three working groups,” the Kremlin spokesman told reporters.
