Relocators will have a hard time living on money they receive from renting out real estate in Russia

People who left Russia and allow themselves to “sling mud” at their country will have a hard time living off the money they receive from renting out real estate in the Russian Federation. This was stated by the head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Alexander Khinshtein, who emphasized that such measures are being worked out in the lower house of the Russian parliament.

As Gazeta.ru recalls, on November 7, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin announced a bill aimed against such relocators. Volodin wrote that “we are also working on measures for them that will allow them to stop enriching themselves at the expense of movable and immovable property located on the territory of our country, as well as from selling it.”

“In other words, living off the money they receive from renting out an apartment in Russia and pouring mud on their homeland will be problematic,” Khinshtein wrote.

The deputy also commented on Volodin’s statement, who said that the State Duma is working on introducing a procedure for paying funds to foreign agents for the sale of books, music, art objects, etc. All income from the creative activities of these citizens will be credited to a special ruble account, the opening of which will become mandatory. Receiving funds in any other way will be prohibited.

As Khinshtein noted, this law will allow foreign agent musicians to disable monetization on Russian streaming services.

According to various estimates, from 500 thousand to 1.3 million people have left Russia since February 2022. According to the European University Institute in Florence, 15% of those who left returned to the Russian Federation. According to Finion, there are more of them – 40%.
