Yesterday, March 16, officers from the Aragatsotn Regional Rescue Department of the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia conducted a search in the snow-covered area adjacent to the Mailer ski resort in the village of Yegipatrush.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, at around 11:30 a.m., the 112 command center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia received a call that a citizen had climbed a mountain and that contact with him was soon lost. An avalanche had occurred at the designated location, and it was possible that the citizen had been trapped.
Rescuers arrived at the designated location and, after approximately six hours of searching, with great difficulty and even at great risk to their lives, discovered the body of 37-year-old Anton Gulezan, a citizen of the Russian Federation, under a nearly 6-meter-deep avalanche.
The investigative department has opened a criminal case into the incident.
Investigators have ordered a forensic examination of the body.
