Russian Foreign Ministry: Polish Consulate General Closed in St. Petersburg

On December 5, the Russian Foreign Ministry sent a note to the Polish side notifying that, as a response to the closure of the Russian Consulate General in Poznan on November 30 by the Polish authorities, the Russian side is withdrawing its consent to the functioning of the Consulate General of Poland in St. Petersburg from January 10, 2025. This is stated in a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“Guided by the principle of reciprocity, three diplomatic employees of the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in St. Petersburg have been declared “persona non grata” and must leave the territory of Russia before the specified date.

In recent years, the Polish authorities have been pursuing an openly hostile policy towards Russia, have almost completely dismantled the architecture of Russian-Polish relations built over many decades, and openly declare the need to inflict a “strategic defeat” on our country. One of the manifestations of this anti-Russian course was the closure of the Russian Consulate General in Poznan under a far-fetched pretext.

The Polish side was told that Moscow has taken and will continue to take tough countermeasures to any unfriendly steps towards Russia,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
