Russia’s main priorities in the South Caucasus are peace and cooperation, they have never changed. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, TASS reports.
“Our priorities have never changed: they are peace and cooperation, and they remain the same today,” the Russian Foreign Minister emphasized.
Lavrov noted that Russia, represented by Russian President Vladimir Putin, played a decisive role in achieving a peace agreement through “numerous nighttime telephone conversations” between the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“Everything could have ended earlier, but not all sides were willing to do so.” “However, [Russian President Vladimir Putin] reached agreements that were signed by the Prime Minister of Armenia [Nikol Pashinyan] and the President of Azerbaijan [Ilham Aliyev] in November 2020,” the Russian Foreign Minister added.
