Tokyo police suspect an employee of the Saudi Arabian embassy of harassing an unknown woman in a public place. This was reported by the Asahi Shimbun newspaper.
It is noted that the incident occurred back in July 2024. According to the investigation, the attaché of the Saudi Arabian embassy, in a state of alcohol intoxication, spoke to an unknown woman in the center of Tokyo, after which he began to harass her. A local resident called the police. The embassy employee refused to take an alcohol test, but admitted that he “drank tequila.” He agreed to go with the police to the station, but there he said that he was a diplomatic worker and left.
Later, the Japanese police called the man twice for a conversation, but both requests were ignored. It is emphasized that the police intend to send the case to the prosecutor’s office in the near future. According to the newspaper, the diplomat has already left Japan and returned to Saudi Arabia.
