What happened to Vazgen Saghatelyan and Narek Samsonyan has a clear political motive, stated Armen Ashotyan, Deputy Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia, in a Facebook live broadcast.
“All of this is aimed at whipping up an atmosphere of fear in Armenia.
The goal is not to restore the wounded pride or reputation of this man (Alen Simonyan), but to silence these guys and shut the mouths of others.
I express my full solidarity with Narek and Vazgen.
Shame on the international organizations and ambassadors represented in Armenia who see all this and remain silent.
A Nikolaev-style terror is raging in Armenia. “They are cats on the outside, lions on the inside,” said Armen Ashotyan.
As a reminder, masked National Security Service officers entered the apartments of Vazgen Saghatelyan and Narek Samsonyan early in the morning, conducted searches, and then detained them.
NSS officers also searched the office of the Antifake news agency. According to lawyer Ruben Melikyan, they seized the agency’s equipment.
NA Speaker Alen Simonyan also announced that he had filed a lawsuit against Saghatelyan and Samsonyan.
