South Korean police seize phone from commissioner general due to martial law

A special police team set up to investigate the martial law situation seized phones from National Police Agency Commissioner General Cho Ji-ho, Metropolitan Police Chief Kim Bong-sik, and National Assembly Police Security Chief Mok Hyun-tae, Yonhap News Agency reported.

The special team was formed from members of the National Investigation Agency’s investigation department.

Earlier, a group of lawmakers filed a police report accusing President Yoon Seok-yul, Interior Minister Lee Sang-min, former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun, and Army Chief of Staff Park Ahn-soo of rebellion. The list also included Cho Ji-ho and Kim Bong-sik. South Korean law allows for the prosecution of a sitting president on charges of treason and rebellion.
