Speaker: The new convocation of the Georgian Parliament will begin its work despite the claims of the president and deputies

The new Georgian parliament will begin its work on November 25, despite the lawsuits filed by President Salome Zurabishvili and MPs to the Constitutional Court (CC) on the elections, said the speaker of the country’s parliament, Shalva Papuashvili.

“We will gather and recognize our rights and powers,” Papuashvili said, the portal “News Georgia” reports.

He called the assertions that the president’s or MPs’ lawsuits to the CC could hinder the process of recognizing the powers of the new parliament “stupid.”

According to him, there is no legislative norm that would stop the work of the newly elected parliament for more than 30 days.
