Dear Compatriots!
Today, we are once again witnessing new disgusting and unacceptable actions by the ruling regime against the fundamental institutions of our national identity, which in recent days have been especially expressed in overt, increasingly poisonous and disgusting attacks on the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church.
These actions not only insult our dignity, but also reflect the authoritarianism of the regime.
nature, deliberately and continuously striking at the foundations of statehood, democracy and fundamental human freedoms.
The Constitution of the Republic of Armenia clearly defines the separation of church and state, ensuring that the government has no authority over the national church, which has a constitutionally exclusive mission.
This principle is fundamental to maintaining the autonomy of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church.
As the first institution in the country to adopt Christianity as a state religion, the Armenian Apostolic Church has been and remains an integral part of our identity, a pillar of our national consciousness, a beacon of hope, resistance and unity for centuries. And this is not just a matter of constitutionality, it is a vile attack on our national unity, dignity and prospects for self-preservation of the nation.
We strongly condemn and reject the outrageous behavior of the ruler of Armenia and his wife, as it threatens to undermine the foundations of our social cohesion and jeopardizes the bond between our people and their sacred faith.
It is our duty to protect this institution from unjustified interference and to firmly support the exclusive guardian of our national values.
Moreover, it is important to emphasize the obvious parallel between the vile attacks on our church by the current regime and Azerbaijan’s attacks on our spiritual and cultural heritage. Azerbaijan has consistently sought to destroy our connection to our identity by systematically erasing or distorting the meaning of Armenian churches, monuments and traditions, which is now happening in occupied Artsakh as well. The current shameful reality once again makes the need to form a new government at the people’s demand fatal.
It is time to show determination, resolve and action to form a government that will prioritize the well-being of our country and people, as well as the protection of national values.
We call on all Armenians, both in the homeland and in the diaspora, to unite in condemning these disgusting authoritarian actions and reaffirm our commitment to our church and the values it professes. Let us break this unbearable reality together, protect our identity. With faith, hope and unity, for the sake of the soul and salvation of the homeland.
