A representative of the Vatican’s Swiss Guard Corps has denied earlier rumors about preparations for the funeral of Pope Francis. This was reported by the Swiss newspaper Blick.
The publication previously wrote that the guard had already begun active preparations for the funeral, and a curfew had been introduced for the guards. However, a representative of the Vatican’s armed forces later denied this statement. “We continue to work as usual,” the authorized person said, confirming that the guards are serving without changes.
The 88-year-old pontiff has been in the hospital since February 14. He has been prescribed complete rest: all events with his participation have been cancelled until the end of the week. The hospitalization may be delayed, the Vatican says. It is also reported that Francis is in a good mood, praying and reading newspapers.
