Syrian army reports retreat from Hama city

The Syrian Army reported that its forces have retreated from the city of Hama, where fierce battles with terrorists were taking place.

“Over the past few days, our armed forces fought fierce battles to repel and suppress successive attacks by terrorist organizations on Hama city from different directions and in huge numbers, using all means and military equipment and with the help of sabotage groups. During the past hours, due to the intensification of clashes between our soldiers and terrorist groups and the appearance of a large number of deaths among our soldiers, these groups were able to break through several directions in the city and enter it despite heavy losses in their ranks. To preserve the lives of civilians in Hama and not to involve them in fighting inside the cities, the military units stationed there were redeployed outside the city. The General Command of the Ground Forces and Armed Forces says it will continue to fulfill its national duty to retake the territories invaded by terrorist organizations,” the Syrian army said in a statement.

The groups, the strongest of which is the pro-Turkish Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, launched their offensive on Nov. 27. A few days later, on November 30, the terrorists captured the city of Aleppo, the capital of Aleppo province.
