Tehran Ready to Close the Strait of Hormuz: Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Commander Alireza Tangsiri

Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, Commander of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Naval Forces, has emphasized that Tehran is ready to close the Strait of Hormuz as soon as the country’s authorities issue the order.
Regarding the possible closure of this strategically important waterway amid tensions between the US and Iran, Tangsiri, who led the main phase of military exercises in the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, stated that the decision is made by the country’s top leadership.

“As a soldier, I declare that we are ready to carry out this task as soon as our superiors issue the order,” he said.
The Strait of Hormuz is the world’s most important oil route, connecting the largest oil-producing countries of the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea.
