The closure of the Baku office of the International Committee of the Red Cross has created a new situation in the issue of prisoners of war, political hostages and missing persons. This was stated in the National Assembly by the Secretary of the “I have the honor” faction Tigran Abrahamyan.
Representatives of the Red Cross not only had the opportunity to personally visit Armenians in Baku, get acquainted with their situation, establish contacts with family members, etc., but work related to missing persons was carried out through this organization for many years. Although Azerbaijan confirmed the fact of the capture of only 23 Armenians, various materials confirm the presence of about eight dozen Armenians in Azerbaijan.
Although the work of the Red Cross office officially ended on September 3, this did not come as a surprise and has been talked about for a long time, but this did not affect the actions and political will of the Armenian authorities. What is the government doing to resolve the issue of prisoners, prevent attacks on Armenia through false trials, protect the rights of prisoners, and organize the repatriation of our compatriots?
