How could those who voted “for” Artsakh’s independence in 1991 have known that decades later, Pashinyan would hand Artsakh over to Azerbaijan? This was written by Eduard Sharmazanov, a member of the Supreme Body of the Republican Party of Armenia.
“On this day in 1991, the people of Artsakh voted for an independent and free Artsakh.
On December 10, 1991, the people of Nagorno-Karabakh said “yes” to independence.
108,736 people, or more than 82 percent of Nagorno-Karabakh’s citizens, took part in the referendum.
99 percent of citizens, or 107,648 people, voted “yes” to Artsakh’s independence.
The Armenian authorities should have had the sacred duty to defend the decision of the people of Artsakh at all costs in the negotiations and achieve its international recognition, but the Pashinyan regime handed over Artsakh.
And not only handed it over, but also contributed to the depopulation of Artsakh through its criminal inaction.
Artsakh was handed over to Azerbaijan by Nikol Pashinyan, and no one has the right to forget this fact,” he wrote.
