The Atlantic: Trump’s Advisers Only Follow His Directions the Second Time — Because He “Talks a Lot of Shit”

Donald Trump’s advisers follow his orders only after he says them twice, The Atlantic writes in a long article dedicated to the US president’s return for a second term.

For some of Trump’s advisers, this has become an “unofficial rule” of working with him, they said. One of The Atlantic’s interlocutors considers this rule necessary and important because Trump “talks a lot of shit.”

As an example of such a strategy, The Atlantic describes the case of the Kennedy Center, which annually presents awards for contributions to the development of American culture. Traditionally, the recipients meet with the president, but during Trump’s first term, some refused to do so, and he, in turn, did not attend a single event there.

In his second term, Trump, as The Atlantic writes, is thinking about appointing himself chairman of the Kennedy Center. The position was held by billionaire philanthropist David Rubenstein, and Trump ordered an adviser to “call David Rubenstein and tell him he’s fired.” But it wasn’t until Trump again mentioned his desire to become Kennedy Center chairman that the presidential aides got to work. In early February, Trump fired most of the board and appointed himself chairman.
