In recent days, the authorities, through various officials, have announced that they will no longer allow Gyumri 2 to participate in the elections. Secretary of the “I Have the Honor” faction, Tigran Abrahamyan, wrote about this on his Facebook page.
What does this mean? The authorities are making it clear that they will use all means to prevent any figure with opposition (even neutral) views from winning the election.
While this principle has been demonstrated previously in Vanadzor, Alaverdi, Berd, and other cities, the authorities say their methods will be more radical.
“The government doesn’t care about the electoral rights, opinions, or preferences of our citizens, and, having declared itself an outlaw, it operates with approaches characteristic of a dictatorship,” Abramyan wrote.
