Samvel Karapetyan is a political prisoner, a prisoner of conscience, RPA press secretary Eduard Sharmazanov told reporters.
According to him, Karapetyan is fighting to preserve his national values. “What Nicholas’s regime is doing to Mr. Karapetyan is, in the classic sense, political persecution. Samvel Karapetyan is a political prisoner and a hostage of these authorities, just as Ruben Vardanyan and the military-political leadership of Artsakh are hostages of the Aliyev regime. It is clear that the authorities fear a national awakening, fear the authority of Samvel Karapetyan, and are doing everything they can to hinder this national awakening and the consolidation of national forces under Karapetyan’s leadership.”
