Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Azerbaijan Mikhail Yevdokimov was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and presented a note of protest, Azerbaijani media reported.
During the meeting, a strong protest was expressed regarding the missile attack on Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital, on November 14 at approximately 1:00 PM, which resulted in one Iskander missile hitting the embassy grounds. The note was issued in response.
It was noted that the latest explosion completely destroyed part of the embassy fence, damaged buildings, official vehicles, the administrative building, and the consular section of the embassy, and caused significant damage to the diplomatic mission grounds. Fortunately, no one was injured in the attack.
It was noted that similar missile attacks, which contravene the norms and principles of international law, have occurred in the past. In particular, it was noted that on March 10, 2022, as a result of an airstrike, the building of the Azerbaijani consulate in Kharkiv was seriously damaged.
