The court will consider a motion to extend Samvel Karapetyan’s pretrial detention on November 17.

On November 17, the Anti-Corruption Court will consider a motion to extend the pretrial detention of businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan. Karapetyan’s lawyer, Aram Vardevanyan, announced this on Facebook.

Vardevanyan explained that on November 13, the Anti-Corruption Court of Appeals was scheduled to rule on the defense’s appeal, as well as on the prosecutor’s appeals, in the case of Samvel Karapetyan.

“The prosecutor’s appeal concerned two senseless and absurd economic charges related to the establishment of reasonable suspicion, as well as the substitution of the actual pretrial detention period from one month to two months. Our complaint was that there can be no reasonable suspicion based on the known charges, and that the arrest should be lifted as soon as possible. “On November 13, the court decided to reject both complaints,” he noted.
