As part of a criminal investigation initiated as a result of operational and investigative measures by the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia, it was established that the director of Sevan Medical Center CJSC, using his official powers, committed large-scale theft of property entrusted to him, as well as document forgery within a group of companies.
The Committee reports that, in particular, it was established that the director of the aforementioned medical center hired a close associate in 2022, who, however, did not show up for work or perform his official duties from that period until November 2024.
The criminal case, initiated as a result of operational and investigative measures by the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Republic of Armenia, is based on facts in which the director, using his official powers, committed theft of property entrusted to him, as well as document forgery within a group of companies.
The Committee reports that, in particular, it was established that the director of the aforementioned medical center hired a close associate in 2022, who, however, did not show up for work or perform his official duties from that period until November 2024.
During the preliminary investigation, it was also established that the director, in prior agreement with an employee of the same medical center, prepared a forged attendance document for the aforementioned individual, resulting in an overpayment of 2,238,745 drams in wages from the medical center’s budget.
The director of the medical center has been charged under Article 256, Part 2, Clauses 2 and 3, and Article 457, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. As a preventive measure, he has been suspended from his position and prohibited from absenteeism. A close associate of the director and an employee of the medical center have been charged under Articles 46-256, Part 2, Clauses 2 and 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
During the preliminary investigation, the damages caused to the state in the amount of 2,238,745 drams were fully compensated.
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case has been completed, and the case materials have been sent to the Anti-Corruption Court of the Republic of Armenia along with the indictment.
