The first migrants were expelled from the US under the “self-deportation” program

The first charter plane with 64 citizens of these countries who voluntarily left the US under the “self-deportation” program announced by the Donald Trump administration arrived in Honduras and Colombia. This was reported in a press release by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The department noted that the illegal migrants registered themselves in the new CBP Home application. A charter flight with two stops was organized for them from Houston, DW reports. They received free travel, a payment of $1,000, and the opportunity to return back to the US legally.

The authorities of Honduras, where 38 people returned, additionally allocated them $100 each and issued food stamps, and also promised to help with employment. The authorities of this country “provided social services” to 26 people who returned to Colombia, the US DHS reported.
