The hearing in the case of former head of the Masis extended community, David Ambardzumayan, has been postponed; the next hearing will be held on January 19 at 2:00 PM.
The prosecutor stated that he had just been assigned to the case and was not familiar with its details.
One of David Ambardzumayan’s lawyers, Tigran Atanesyan, objected, stating that this was already the prosecutor’s ninth shift in this case, and proposed continuing the hearing. However, the court decided to postpone it.
After the court hearing, at a briefing with journalists, Ambardzumayan’s lawyer, Tigran Atanesyan, noted that four people testified against his client during the preliminary investigation.
“These Nikolak scumbags gave testimony that is untrue and doesn’t add up to a coherent whole.” In 2018, they were thrilled to have the opportunity to testify. One of them testified that David Hambardzumyan had a weapon and shot at people while hanging from a car. He describes a fight on video, which involved several hundred people and police officers. Five police officers who were there claim that nothing of the sort happened,” the defense attorney noted.
As a reminder, on October 23, David Hambardzumyan, head of the Masis community, was sentenced to six years and three months in prison. He is a candidate for prime minister from the “I Have Honor” faction.
David Hambardzumyan was charged with attacking protesters at the intersection of Ayanist and Hovtashat villages on April 22, 2018, and with mass riots that occurred in the Erebuni administrative district on April 22. Hambardzumyan was arrested and later released on bail of 5 million drams.
In 2019, the Criminal Prosecution Department suspended the criminal prosecution of David Ambardzumyan due to a lack of evidence of a crime.
It should be noted that David Ambardzumyan was detained at Zvartnots Airport.
