The Hearts of Supporters, the Prison of Opponents: Tigran Abrahamyan on the Government’s Actions

What happened to a government that loves its citizens with a false smile and pride, but then began to distort its promises, selectively expressing its own attitude? Tigran Abrahamyan, secretary of the “I Have Honor” faction, said during a speech at the National Assembly.

“Those citizens who participate in government celebrations, traveling carnivals, and defend Pashinyan’s government at all costs receive hearts and compliments.

And those who do not share the optimism and views of the government and their party leader are subject to political persecution, become prisoners of conscience, end up in prison, and are constantly embroiled in lawsuits.

One dared to engage in politics, another is “guilty” because he wields power, a third publishes videos that are objectionable to the government, one has rejected betrayal and denial, and another simply doesn’t fit into the government’s electoral calculations.

From the very beginning, the key principle of this government was to govern through public hatred and hostility, with the aim of provoking artificial crises and “heroic” resolutions.

This regime is characterized by exploiting social disunity and internal conflicts, destroying the country’s solidarity and resilience, resolving its own domestic political problems, and leaving external security to the conscience of its patrons.

Faced with internal fears, accumulated complexes, and worthless ideas, the government chose only one solution: to destroy, demolish, and devastate everything—be it a person, an idea, or an institution—that ensures the normal course, development, and stability of the country. The devastating attack on the Throne is proof of this.

Over these eight years, many people have been subjected to political persecution, many have been detained as punishment, and some have spent years behind bars.

Currently, for example, media representative Narek Samsonyan has declared a hunger strike due to serious health problems, whose rights have been violated in every way, from searches and detentions to the entire chain of political persecution.

Will, patience, and strong nerves to all those fighting to restore their rights.

I support all political prisoners who, under intense pressure and attacks from the ruling regime, defend their views and principles.

I demand the immediate release of all political prisoners,” Abrahamyan stated.
