The KP’s rating is shamefully low, shameful. Let them think about themselves; they’re just trying to give themselves hope. Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan told reporters this in the courtyard of the courthouse.
“Hey, I’m telling you from now on, your rating is shameful. Think about yourselves, open the courts, open the prison colonies, free people—those political prisoners, you’re jailing bishops. After all this, how can he have a rating? You’ve filled the courts with people like us; the driving force of the entire country has filled the courts. I don’t know what you’re doing to the country, but can your rating be high? Let’s put a normal person in front of us, and we’ll see if it’s high or not,” Ghukasyan said.
Speaking about the “spiritual assembly” announced by Pashinyan for September-October, Ghukasyan said: “You know what, let me tell you one thing: when they want to destroy the country, they destroy the church and the family. Now they’re doing this because they’ve received orders from external forces that they want to destroy this country. The country rests on the church and the family, on our Armenian nation and on the school.
Now they’re destroying the school, removing Mesrop Mashtots, removing the history of Armenian Christianity from the school, removing Ararat. In other words, it seems there’s no way to preserve it, no matter how much they want, with such wonderful institutions—not from the side, not from below, not from above. So, the people won’t understand, and the people understand perfectly well—you’re destroying the Republic of Armenia.” This won’t work either, because God is the master of this nation. “Don’t worry, do whatever you want, say, prosecute a few clergymen, do whatever you want, the church won’t be destroyed by it,” he said.
