The Ministry of Internal Affairs Police has filed a report with the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia regarding the recording of the October 2023 conversation between Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan and the former Catholicos’s staff bearer, Father Aghan Yernjakyan, which was distributed in government media today.
It should be noted that the Mother See also announced that these days the entire law enforcement and judicial system is engaged in the implementation of illegal anti-church instructions.
“The purpose of circulating such expressions attributed to the Catholicos of All Armenians is to discredit and incite hostility towards the Church and clergy. Violation of the confidentiality of telephone conversations is a crime in itself and a separate topic, to which we hope that law enforcement bodies will respond adequately,” the statement says.
