The occupation regime has begun informational preparations for the arrest of His Holiness the Patriarch, which is a major attack on the Armenian Apostolic Church. Human rights activist Ruben Melikyan wrote about this on his Facebook page.
“On one of their websites, they published a recording of a telephone conversation, allegedly taking place in 2023, between one of the Patriarchs and a certain priest, in which the priest accuses His Holiness the Patriarch of ‘advising’ him to participate in some rally.
“The next steps are already clear. The question is when: today, tomorrow, Monday, or in a few days.
Given all this, I would like to share a few points.
1) The captured Patriarch remains His Holiness. “There have been many instances in our centuries-long history when our Most Holy Patriarchs were captured by the enemy. And this will be one of them.
2) His Holiness has every right to appoint a viceroy during his absence to ensure the normal functioning of the Church.
3) If the Mother See calls us to Holy Etchmiadzin, we must be ready,” Melikyan wrote.
