The people who have held power in our country in recent years may speak Armenian, but they are certainly not Armenian in their identity. Ashotyan

Vice President of the Republican Party of Armenia Armen Ashotyan writes:

“Today is Mother Language Day.

There was a time when recognizing Armenian as one’s native language was one of the most important criteria for belonging to the Armenian nation.

The people who have held power in our country in recent years may speak Armenian, but they are certainly not Armenian in their value system, mentality, and identity.

Their native language is undoubtedly Armenian.

However, the language of the subconscious is different and has no connection with either Armenian identity or Armenian self-awareness.

Therefore, in my opinion, Armenian is native only if and for those people who speak Armenian with and toward God.”
