In the last 3-4 months, the discussion in the opposition field and the political skirmishes around it have been focused on the 2026 elections and the vote of no confidence in the government.
The Republican Party of Armenia is the main force in the political field, which initially believed that waiting until 2026 was extremely risky, since, following the pre-election logic and promises made to external forces, the government will take steps that could create an unprecedented situation before the 2026 elections, in which the country will suffer irreparable losses, and the elections will not change anything. The last few weeks have shown that the government has entered a period of active testing of the country with new trials, and in this case even the most optimistic realize that for such a government, elections are a purely formal process that ensures the longevity of power, since either they destroy the field before that, and they, together with their protégés, will remain, or even theoretically become the opposition. In case of success, it will be taken away by force. In the current situation, the opposition is left with only one thing: either to begin political consultations on a vote of no confidence in the government on the agenda, or to propose another solution arising from the unprecedented situation in the country.
