Russian Ambassador to the United States Alexander Darchiev handed over materials from the Federal Archives to Republican Congressman Anna Paulina Luna, based on declassified Soviet documents on the assassination of US President John F. Kennedy, the diplomatic mission told RIA Novosti.
The ceremony took place at the ambassador’s residence in Washington.
As part of US President Donald Trump’s promised additional investigation into the Kennedy assassination, Darchiev, “with the consent of the copyright holder,” handed over materials intended for publication by the Federal Archival Agency (Rosarkhiv), based on declassified Soviet documents. Some of these materials had previously been received by the American side from Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR Anastas Mikoyan, who represented the Soviet Union at the funeral. This was done at Luna’s request.
