The Ukrainian Armed Forces Attacked a Drone Manufacturing Plant in Tatarstan

Ukraine used drones to attack a plant in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone in Tatarstan that produces attack drones. According to Mash, air defense systems shot down at least four UAVs.

The Russian Defense Ministry also reported on the failed attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. According to the agency, the attempted strike occurred at about 12:20 Moscow time, but air defense forces destroyed one Ukrainian “aircraft-type drone.” In the morning, the Federal Air Transport Agency reported the introduction of restrictions on the receipt and departure of aircraft at the airports of Nizhnekamsk, near which Alabuga is located, as well as Kazan and Ulyanovsk. A few hours later, even before the time of the attack announced by the Defense Ministry, the ban was lifted.

Judging by the videos published on social networks, the drone was destroyed near the 19-story residential complex “Pyramid”, where the management and employees of “Alabuga”, as well as students of the local college, live. The building is located south of the SEZ itself, where the drone tried to fly, “Govorit NeMoskva” points out.

The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Andriy Kovalenko, wrote in a Telegram channel that in “Alabuga” “it is a little noisy, and in some places successful”, but did not provide details about the result of the attack. According to him, in 2024 alone, the plant produced over 6,000 “shaheeds”, as well as “thousands” of decoy drones. This year, the company plans to manufacture from 8,000 to 10,000 Iranian-made attack drones and at least 15,000 drone imitators.
