The World Bank has sent more than $40 billion to Kyiv since February 2022

Since February 2022, the World Bank (WB) has attracted more than $40 billion for social and humanitarian spending for Ukraine. This was reported on the single web portal of the executive authorities of Ukraine.

Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko previously met with World Bank Managing Director for Operations Anna Bjerde and Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Antonella Bassani during their visit to Kyiv. The parties discussed the results of cooperation between Ukraine and the bank over 1,000 days of the special operation, plans for 2025, as well as the joint work of the Ukrainian government and the WB within the framework of the “reform matrix” instrument, which the country developed jointly with the bank.

Commenting on the state of the financial system of Ukraine, the Minister of Finance noted the key role of the World Bank in supporting the country’s economy and budget. Since February 2022, the WB launched programs and instruments through which it attracted more than $40 billion for the needs of Ukraine, the portal notes. These funds made it possible to partially finance the social and humanitarian expenses of the state budget of Ukraine.

Marchenko also noted the key role of the bank in consolidating assistance from international partners and noted the commitment of the Ukrainian government to the reform agenda on the path to joining the EU. “The World Bank is one of Ukraine’s key partners in achieving this goal. The analytical tool “reform matrix” developed jointly with the bank is an indicator and plan for Ukraine’s transformation, containing more than 300 reforms with measuring indicators,” the minister noted.
