Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia was informed from Iran that there are no human losses in the Armenian community, only material ones. This information was conveyed by the Catholicosate.
“On the evening of March 3, His Holiness Patriarch Aram I held a telephone conversation with Hovsep Avetian, a member of the Political Council of the National Central Council and a resident of Tehran. The latter provided His Holiness with the necessary information about the situation in Iran and the Armenian community. According to them, the Armenian community has suffered no losses, only material ones. Diocesan and community officials are monitoring the situation, and youth groups are visiting Armenian neighborhoods, ready to provide assistance to these families if needed,” the statement reads.
Aram I also contacted Archbishop Mesrop Sargsyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Qatar in the United Arab Emirates. The Holy Father conveyed to the Patriarch information on the situation of the Armenian communities in these regions. Archbishop Mesrop assured that there were no casualties or material damage.
On March 4, Aram I also established contact with diocesan and community officials in Kuwait. The Armenian community in Kuwait was also unharmed. A telephone conversation was also held with Varges Makhtesyan, State Representative of the Armenian Community of Cyprus.
On March 3, the political assembly of the National Central Council held a special online session chaired by the Patriarch, where the situation in the Middle East and opportunities for supporting Armenian communities were discussed.
The session focused on the southern regions of Lebanon and Beirut, as well as the Israeli attacks on the Bekaa and their consequences.
