“My parents survived the massacre, they grew up in an orphanage.” “I come to the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex to fulfill not only my family, but also my universal sacred duty.” Famous Armenian composer Tigran Mansuryan said this today, April 24, on the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, in an interview with journalists at the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex.
When asked by a journalist why the intelligentsia does not take steps for international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, Tigran Mansuryan answered:
“I live such a lonely life, I am 86 years old, and even among musicians there are people I do not know.” I do not know what intellectuals do. Perhaps they have the right to blame me for some problems, but if it were possible to live differently, I would live differently. I rarely leave the house and do what I have to. Soon 350 students will organize concerts where my music will be played. “It was the best I could do.”
