Russia, China and Mongolia should strengthen cooperation within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which has become the main platform for ensuring the security of the countries of the region. As reported by Armenpress and the RIA Novosti agency, this was stated by the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping during a trilateral meeting with the leaders of Russia and Mongolia Vladimir Putin and Ukhnagiin Khurelsukh in Beijing.
“The more unstable and complex the international situation becomes, the more China, Russia and Mongolia should strengthen unity and cooperation, increase mutual support, respect each other’s core interests and serious concerns,” he said.
“In recent years, under our joint leadership, trilateral cooperation between China, Russia and Mongolia has been steadily developing and bearing real fruit,” he added.
The Chinese leader emphasized the successful implementation of the “road map” for cooperation between China, Russia and Mongolia. In particular, he drew attention to the steady growth of trilateral trade turnover.
He also stated that the Chinese authorities attach great importance to trilateral trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian projects involving China, Russia and Mongolia.
During the meeting, Russian President Putin stated that Russia sincerely strives to “develop mutually beneficial, equal and multifaceted relations with both the People’s Republic of China and Mongolia.”
“Our three countries have a lot in common. We agreed to jointly develop political, economic and humanitarian ties,” Putin said.
Putin also thanked Chinese President Xi Jinping and the Chinese side for their hospitality and for organizing the trilateral meeting.
