US President Donald Trump said that it is necessary to stop broadcasting the American TV channel MSNBC, which is close to the Democratic Party.
“MSDNC (a distorted name of the channel) is much worse than CNN. They should not even have the right to broadcast,” Trump wrote on his social network Truth Social.
According to the Daily Beast portal, in his post Trump included the abbreviation DNC – the Democratic National Committee – in the name of the channel, thereby hinting that this media is controlled by his political opponents. The president’s message also includes the phrase “Only in America!” which comes immediately after the call to close the channel, but what it means, the portal points out, is unclear.
Trump spoke about MSNBC in connection with media reports that the American TV channel CNN will announce the reduction of hundreds of employees on Thursday, as it prepares to reorient its activities to a “global digital audience.” NBC News is also planning to make layoffs in the coming days, but they will be smaller and will affect fewer than 50 employees, CNBC sources said.
