US President Donald Trump believes a resolution to the military conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan is possible.
“I’ve heard there’s a war going on between Pakistan and Afghanistan. I’m working on another war now because I’m good at resolving conflicts,” Trump said in response to questions from reporters. A recording of the conversation was published on the White House website.
He added that he “has already saved millions of lives.” Trump emphasized that he did this “not for the Nobel Prize,” but “to save lives.”
Earlier, clashes were reported in Afghanistan’s Helmand Province. Afghan air forces reportedly struck the Pakistani city of Lahore. Taliban representatives did not provide details of the operation. The Afghan television channel TOLO News reported that at least 58 Pakistani soldiers were killed in the clashes. The Pakistani television channel Geo TV reported that at least several dozen Afghan soldiers were killed in the clashes.
