Trump says Musk won’t be able to replace him as president

US President-elect Donald Trump is not afraid that businessman Elon Musk will act as head of state in his place.

“There’s a new [rumor] that Trump has ceded the presidency to Elon Musk. No, that’s not going to happen,” Trump said at the AmericaFest conference in Phoenix, Arizona. “He’s not going to be president, I’m safe. You know why he can’t be [US president]? He wasn’t born in this country.”

Elon Musk was born in 1971 in Pretoria, South Africa. After finishing school, he moved to Canada and then to the United States. The US constitution does not allow citizens born outside the US to run for president.

Earlier, The Washington Post reported that Musk is being called the “shadow president” of the US after his intervention in the process of passing a bill to finance the federal government. NBC, in turn, drew attention to the fact that Trump’s inner circle is already starting to get tired of Musk’s influence and his constant presence next to the politician. Musk is acting like a co-president of the United States, actively pushing his vision for a second term for Trump, according to an NBC source.
