US President-elect Donald Trump has announced that he has nominated Kevin Marino Cabrera to be the next US Ambassador to Panama.
“I am pleased to announce that Kevin Marino Cabrera will be serving as the next US Ambassador to the Republic of Panama, which is fleecing us [financially] with the Panama Canal,” he wrote on his Truth Social page. “Few understand Latin American politics as well as Kevin. He [Cabrera] will do a fantastic job representing our interests in Panama.”
Cabrera was born in Miami to Cuban immigrants. He is an official in Miami-Dade County, Florida. As the president-elect noted, in 2024, Cabrera actively promoted the ideas of the MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement as a member of the Republican National Committee.
Cabrera’s candidacy for the post of US Ambassador to Panama must be confirmed by the US Senate. This position is currently held by Marie Aponte.
