US President-elect Donald Trump has sharply criticized the decision of the current head of the US administration, Joe Biden, to commute the sentences of 37 prisoners sentenced to death at the federal level.
“These men are among the worst killers, and this disgusting decision by Joe Biden is a slap in the face to the victims, their families, and loved ones,” said a statement released by the director of communications for the Trump transition team, Steven Chun.
The text indicates that “Trump advocates for the rule of law, which will return” when the politician officially takes office as president.
Earlier, the White House press service reported that Biden commuted the death sentences of 37 of the 40 people awaiting execution to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
