US President Donald Trump told reporters outside the White House after a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that in order to resume negotiations, Zelensky must declare that he wants peace, BBC News reports.
He also said that Zelensky wanted to return to the White House “right now,” but Trump was uncomfortable with that.
The US President added that a ceasefire could happen “immediately.”
“We’re not going to continue fighting, we’re going to finish the war or let them go and see what happens, let them fight to the end,” the US President told reporters.
Recall that yesterday, during negotiations, the US and Ukrainian presidents began to talk in raised tones. Trump accused Zelensky of ingratitude. The US Vice President also joined the dispute.
Trump later said that Zelensky was not ready for peace.
After some time, the press conference of Trump and Zelensky was canceled, and the deal on minerals was postponed.
