Turkish Ambassador to Tehran Hijabi Kirlangic was invited to the Iranian Foreign Ministry following statements by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Tasnim reports.
Aide to the Foreign Minister and Secretary General of the Mediterranean and Eastern Europe Department at the Iranian Foreign Ministry Mahmoud Heydari noted at a meeting with the ambassador that Turkey needs to avoid inappropriate comments that could provoke disagreements or tensions in bilateral relations, given the situation in the region and the common interests of the two neighbors.
The Iranian diplomat described the Zionist regime’s constant acts of aggression and expansionism as the biggest threat to regional stability and security.
“It is expected that the major Islamic countries will focus their efforts on ending the crimes and aggression of the Zionist regime against the oppressed people of Palestine and other countries in the region, including Syria,” Heydari told the Turkish ambassador.
In turn, Kirlangic said that Turkey is in favor of expanding friendly relations with Iran.
According to the ambassador, Turkey and Iran need to work closely together to develop bilateral relations, strengthen regional cooperation and counter existing threats.
Earlier, Fidan said in an interview with Al Jazeera that Iran has spent colossal resources “for its gains in the region.”
