US and Japanese companies to sign $490 billion investment deals

The US Commerce Secretary has announced trade with Japan worth $490 billion, TASS reports.

These include nuclear reactors, large energy equipment, as well as construction and engineering services.

US and Japanese corporations will sign investment deals worth a total of $490 billion, US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said during a meeting with business leaders from both countries.

“Today’s event will see the signing of $490 billion in investment deals,” Lutnick said.

According to him, the deals will focus on the energy and nuclear sectors, as well as semiconductor manufacturing.

The US Commerce Secretary has stressed that Westinghouse will build nuclear reactors worth $100 billion, while GE Vernova will develop small modular reactors, gas and steam turbines and generators.

On October 28, US President Donald Trump announced the first delivery of American missiles for F-35 fighter jets to the Japan Self-Defense Forces. During a meeting with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, the president noted that deliveries have already been approved and will begin this week, emphasizing that they will arrive ahead of schedule.
