Vice President J.D. Vance’s press secretary stated after his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev that he discussed the release of prisoners in Baku.
“President Aliyev and Vice President Vance discussed next steps under President Trump’s peace initiative in Armenia and Azerbaijan. They focused on trade and prosperity, technology, and diplomatic ties, and discussed next steps, including signing agreements and permits under the Trump Pathway to International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) program, as well as confidence-building measures such as prisoner releases, American investment, and regional economic integration,” the vice president’s press secretary said.
However, the US side did not specify the Azerbaijani side’s response or the existence of any agreements on this issue.
It should be noted that J.D. Vance promised to raise the issue of Armenian prisoners in Baku before his flight to Yerevan.
