The Anti-Corruption Committee has completed its investigation into the bribery case against Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan. The official, who led Gyumri for several months, is accused of extorting a bribe from a Gyumri resident through the city’s architect in exchange for legalizing a building he had built without permission.
The bribe-taker pleaded guilty, while Vardan Ghukasyan, according to his lawyer, denies the charges. If found guilty in court, he faces up to 10 years in prison.
